This is a very very special song to me. Both of my parents were professional musicians - my dad a country-western artist and my mom a folk artist - and so music was a part of my life from the time i was in my mother’s womb. my dad wrote and recorded a large number of
songs in the 1960’s and 70’s, but only a couple of them survived (recording-wise). This song was one of those, and this is my humble take on my dad’s own gem of a song. when my dad was striken with very advanced lung cancer in 2016 (his 4th cancer), I knew time was short.
I had always wanted to re-record my parents’ songs, and given that my dad was short on time I knew I had to get this song done in a hurry.
I figured out my arrangement, recorded it in one night, and sent it to his wife who then played the song through her phone into my dad’s ear.
he was already unconscious at that point and would never regain it (and i was soon out there with him in his final days and hours) but i
trust he was able to actually hear his son playing and singing his song. I hope it brought him some joy and i hope i made him proud.
his version far surpasses mine in quality and coolness, but in the history of music if there was ever a song that was played and
recorded from the most sincere and loving place in one’s heart, my recording of this song here is undoubtedly it.

SON OF THE WIND (words and music by Jim Sisco, Sr., c. 1970)
Big city people walk down big city streets
No one knows where they are going
If being lost is happy then let me lose my way
But happiness is not where I was born
Cuz I’m a son of the wind that’s blowin at my back
Sayin, “Move on boy, you’ve got a lot to see”
I’m a son of the wind, I’ll never look back
Goodbye Marie, I’ve got the world to see
Once I met an angel named Marie
And I prayed Hail Mary let it be
How I loved my Marie, don’t you see
I loved her so that I did set her free
Cuz I’m a son of the wind that’s blowin at my back
Sayin, “Move on boy, you’ve got a lot to see”
I’m a son of the wind, I’ll never look back
Goodbye Marie, I’ve got the world to see
Ooohhh… I loved her so that I did set her free
Cuz I’m a son of the win that’s blowin at my back
Sayin, “Move on boy, you’ve got a lot to see”
I’m a son of the wind, I’ll never look back
Goodbye Marie, I’ve got the world to see
Big city people walk down big city streets
No one knows where they are going
If being lost is happy then let me lose my way
But happiness is not where I was born
Cuz I’m a son of the wind that’s blowin at my back
Sayin, “Move on boy, you’ve got a lot to see”
I’m a son of the wind, I’ll never look back
Goodbye Marie, I’ve got the world to see
Goodbye Marie, I’ve got the world to see
